Position Description:
Reporting Line:Section Geologist
Location:Bulyanhulu Gold Mine; Kahama District; Shinyanga Region.
Work Schedule:Rotational Status (4 weeks on, 2 Weeks Off).
Duration:Two Years Contract
Key PERFORMANCE AREAS
He principle duties include, but are not limited to:
Achievement of agreed targets for the department in terms of: adherence to 5 points Safety System, Minimum dilution of ore, maximum recovery of ounces, % face sampling coverage, numbers of grade control washers placed and validation of collected Geological data.
Delineation of economically mineable ore zone to ensure minimum dilution and maximum recovery of gold
Ensure timely and accurate underground sampling and lithological mapping to provide geological information for the optimum mine design and daily decision - making processes
Attendance at regular communication & production meetings, including the morning Geology toolbox & weekly production planning meetings
Promptly and accurately enter all the required collected data into mine databases
Active involvement and tight monitoring of grade control practices & adherence to established standards
Immediately report any sub standard acts, unsafe and or unproductive conditions or equipment damage to superiors & to the relevant mine section representatives verbally & via incident reports Provide the Mining Department with Daily reports on Mining headings in the relevant Underground (UG) sections detailing current grades, dilution issues & any mining instructions aimed at grade & dilution improvement
Assist the Section Geologist in reviewing every aspect of the departments operations to ensure that opportunities to add values are identified and implemented
Develop a sound knowledge of the geological controls on and the mining instructions aimed at grade & dilution improvement
Develop an understanding of support standards and methods used Underground (UG) to ensure a safe working environment
Update relevant geological databases in a timely manner on the day or, at the very latest by the very next day, following sampling or placement of grade control washers
Complete project work' and presentations to a professional standards as and when directed by Supervisors
Carry out down hole surveys with down hole survey equipment currently held by the Geology department - survey diamond drill holes & or blast holes for QA/QC
Rotate into different working areas of the mine & mine lease at regular intervals as directed by Supervisors to gain maximum experience
Ensure that the Section Light Vehicle (LV) is well maintained and thoroughly cleaned at the closing of every shift.
Required Professional Qualification, Experience and Attributes:
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree of Applied Sciences, majoring in Geology, preferentially with a post graduate qualification, from a recognized Higher Learning Institution
Must have a current Tanzanian Diving License Class D
Knowledge & Exposure To:
Diamond Drilling Techniques
Mining operations, particularly UG narrow vein mining operations
Practical exposure to Exploration Geology is highly regarded
Computing programs and intermediate Ms Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Skills & Experiences:
Well developed underground development mapping skills
Practical operational mining experience
Ability to maintain accurate records & systematic filing of the records
Clear and concise communicator in English - both written and spoken
Personal Qualities & Behaviors
A courageous leader, committed to safe work practices
Capable of working under minimal experience supervision with a systematic logical approach
Enthusiastic and responsible work attitude - leads by example at all times & meets targets
Resourceful, energetic and proactive candidate displaying a high level of initiative & is resilient
