Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate and develop the internal financial systems in order to maintain financial integrity of the company and ensure compliance on internal controls;
• Custodian of the company’s assets;
• Managerial accounting reporting including preparation of budgets, variance analysis, exceptional reports, etc;
• Working capital management and advise on proper financing and business decisions;
• Develop  and maintain financial policies and procedure manuals;
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of statutory returns, such as VAT return, withholding tax and PAYE; and ensuring all taxes are paid.
• Plan, manage, coordinate, and implement the month/quarter/year end closing process and procedures for the assigned accounting records; and conduct  month/quarter/year end closing process;
• Month end follow up on all queries and produce financial statements;
• Analyze and approve monthly payrolls runs;
• Ensure and maintain up to date compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and International Accounting Standards, regulations and laws that guide professional expertise such as IFRS and local announcement as per NBAA;
• Ensure that all banking issues are updated on time;
• Review and approve all postings in the ledger;
• Review and approve payments;
• Lead the audit process of the financial statements in compliance with statutory regulations at both local and international level;
• Liaise closely with both the internal and external auditors to ensure that audit timetables and guidelines are adhered to;
• Maintenance of proper audit trails and verification and reconciliation actions for all processed records, preparation and filling of monthly audit file; and
• Evaluate receipts, expenditure forms, purchase orders, distributions, and disbursement orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established regulatory standards.
