Off the mark: Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany lifts the Community Shield
Manchester City took advantage of Branislav Ivanovic's red card to fight back for victory in the Community Shield.
Fernando Torres poked Chelsea in front in the first half but they were soon reduced to 10 men when Ivanovic was dismissed for a late lunge on Aleksandar Kolarov.
Champions City exploited their advantage after half-time with goals from Yaya Toure, Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri in the curtain-raiser to the new Barclays Premier League season.
Ryan Bertrand scored a consolation for Chelsea in the latter stages but it was not enough to deny City the win.
