Job Title: Senior Legal Officer
Reports to: People and Culture Director
Location: Arusha
 
Purpose of the position:
To support, coordinate and advise on legal matters affecting the organization to ensure compliance to various statutory requirement and serve as a vital link between the public and management on legal matters.
Major Responsibility:
  1. Institute legal proceedings on behalf of the organization
  2. Respond to correspondences and complaints with legal implication from WV partnership, Government and general public
  3. Represent the organization in all judicial/quasi-judicial functions
  4. Coordinates drafting and Vets all the contracts entered into between the organization and other parties
  5. Asses legal risks and advise management on necessary amendments to the organization policies, rules and regulations
  6. Coordinate the activities of external legal counsels and legal firms acting on behalf of the organization if any
Minimum Qualification required:LLB and should be registered to the High Court.
Experience:  Four years as Advocate of the High Court
Preferred:Seven years of experience in the legal field
Technical Skills & Abilities:
  • Computer skills
  • Practice in Labour causes
  • Excellent communication skills both English and Kiswahili

Job Title: Zonal People and Culture Officer
Reports to: Program Manager
Location: Kigoma
Purpose of the position:
To coordinate and support all Human resources and administration functions to enhance efficient and effective service delivery necessary to maintain a healthy People & culture environment, to all stakeholders at the zonal level in line with WVT policies, producers and country labour laws.
 
Major Responsibilities
 
  1. Recruitment: Facilitate recruitment and selection process of program staff within the zone according to WV rules and procedures
  2. Ensure that all new staff signing and filling all P&C forms (Police Background checks, medical examination, Disclosure form/conflict of interest, Child protection,  Employee Code of conduct, Core values, mission, vision & declaration on employee manual, confidentiality forms)
  3. Compensation  and Benefits: Facilitate staff benefits/compensations  as per WVT policies and procedures
  4. Performance management: Coordinate and Facilitate staff training, performance agreement and annual performance appraisal for all program staff.
  5. Staff Development: Ensure Staff development policy and plans are developed and implemented.
  6. Human Resources Information: Ensure that all staff information are properly kept, updated and confidentiality is maintained in the databases.
  7. Staff Contracts Management: Ensure timely preparation of all program staff employment contracts as per Employee Manual.
  8. Industrial Relations: Maintain an effective negotiation process and harmonious employee/employer relationship within the zone. Effective management of disciplinary and grievance issues, and effective communication processes
  9. P&C Quality Assurance : Provide analysis to all measurable performance within the zone
Minimum Qualification required: BA in Human Resources, Public Administration or related field Human Resources. Experience:  Three years in Human Resources
Preferred:  MA Human Resources, Public Administration, MBA, or related field Human Resources, MPA HRM (Public Administration)
 
Other Technical Skills & Abilities:
§  Good organizational, problem solving and assertiveness skills.
§  Good interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
§  Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint)
