REVENUE FROM BEER, SPIRITS BOOST EABL NET PROFIT UP 24PC

The company has posted a 23.96 per cent profit rise to Sh11.18 billion in financial year ended June 30, 2012.
East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has posted a 23.96 per cent increase in net income on increased sales of beer and spirits.
The company, in a statement to the Nairobi Securities Exchange on Friday said that its profits after tax for the twelve months ended June this year rose to Sh11.18 billion from Sh9.02 billion over the same period in 2011.
Foreign exchange differences resulting from the operations of subsidiaries in other countries however saw its total comprehensive income rise by 17.6 per cent to Sh10.82 billion up from Sh9.2 billion the previous year.
Revenues rose by 23.67 per cent to Sh55.52 billion up from Sh44.89 billion as at June 2011 on improved sales but its costs of production and sales rose by 25.53 per cent to Sh28.65 billion from Sh22.82 billion.
The company has declared a final dividend of Sh6.25 to be paid in October to shareholders bringing the total dividend to be paid during the year to Sh8.75 per share.
